James Darling Memorial Scholarship
Jim Darling received a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1989. He operated a family business, the Shady Lane Motel, in Worthington. He taught chemistry at North Hennepin Community College, Minnesota West Community College and Otero Junior College in LaJunta, Colorado. He was a law clerk and practiced law in New Ulm before moving to Austin where he has taught chemistry at Riverland Community College for the past ten years. Jim enjoyed running, swimming, climbing state high points, hiking in the Colorado mountains and renovating and restoring old homes. He also enjoyed watching and encouraging his children’s musical, sports and school activities. Jim will be missed and remembered for his commitment to education and his friendliness and enjoyment of other people.
